Message From the President - January 2023

A New Year Where We Can Connect, Learn and Give Back!

Welcome to the new year! This is a time to reflect and to prepare ourselves for the changes that are affecting our profession and creating opportunities for our own growth.

Look at our January schedule to see how we can prepare to manage change. Do you need some advice on “Using Social Media to Advance Your Career”? – register to hear Rich Sauser at the January 10 Chapter meeting (Register here). Join with our PMIW Toastmasters Club on January 17 to sharpen your presentation skills – guests welcome! The January 20 Lunch & Learn will demonstrate a useful tool – “Smartsheets for PMs”. And the “Foundations in Project Management” course is beginning on January 21.

Your Board is currently engaged in our Annual Planning process. We welcome your input, suggestions and constructive criticism as we assess our efforts to bring you the information and tools which support you in your lifetime learning and professional development. Please e-mail or call any of us (our e-mail addresses are on our Contacts page).

Board discussions center on how we can serve three broad objectives:

  • Connect: bringing together colleagues to network and share; reaching new audiences who can benefit from project management mindset and tools
  • Learn: embracing the lifetime learning concept of personal preparation for managing change, so we can bring opportunities for hearing new expertise and learning new skills
  • Give Back: applying our energies to support individuals and organizations working for positive change

It is a given in our times that we will be facing change. While we can not precisely predict what the forces of change will create, we can sharpen our skills to manage disruption and clarify a path to beneficial outcomes.

And speaking of change, our February Chapter Meeting this year will be on the FIRST Tuesday of the month, February 7. Look forward to seeing you at this hybrid meeting.
