Spring is in the air and we are budding with exciting programs on our calendar to earn you a lot of PDUs! Our 10th Annual Symposium is coming up on Saturday, April 6th at the beautiful Reid Castle at Manhattanville College in Purchase, our Spring PMP Preparation class is about to begin, and we have an action-packed month with a great Chapter speaker, Communities of Practice, Breakfast Roundtable, and Lunch and Learn sessions. This is the month you could earn up to 12 PDUs!!!
First let’s talk about our 10th Annual Symposium. We are going to focus on the personal side or human side of project management. In today’s society, we are inundated with technology all around us. However, we can’t forget we are, after all, human. We need to spend time focusing on building important face-to-face relationships. We need to make sure our judgment is sound, and we are fair and unbiased. Our speakers are a mix of career coaches, trainers, speakers, book authors, senior executives who were part of billion dollar and Fortune 100 companies, and even future rising stars. They are sought after for their expertise in helping individuals like us become better at what we do every single day. Their sessions will help incite us to think about how we can work more effectively, by understanding emotional intelligence, learning from our not-so-small mistakes, and comprehending our everyday value we bring to organizations across the globe. Most of all, how to ignite our teams when morale might be low as we are asked to do more with less. During this event you will earn up to 8 PDUs for attending. Do not miss it!!!
Next, our upcoming Spring PMP Preparation class with Varun Anand. He will be teaching this class in a shorter timescale. The four 9-hour sessions will be conducted on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m., starting on April 13th and ending on May 11th (skipping April 20th). Varun is an internationally renowned PMP trainer with more than 10 years of extensive work experience as a Program/Project Manager. Registration is now open on our website!! You must be registered before the first class begins to participate.
This month we have Brandon Conrad coming to us to talk about, “The Evolution of the Prehistoric Sticky Note” at our Chapter meeting on April 9th. Tired of sticky notes and whiteboard sessions? Mind Mapping is an effective method to use in requirements gathering sessions and the construction of the WBS. When Mind Mapping is coupled with technology it simplifies the process and enhances communication. During this presentation, Brandon will explain mind mapping theory and how that theory can be applied to BA's and PM's, as well as demonstrate best practice techniques in mind mapping and how it relates to technology. Brandon has a degree in Economics and Psychology from the University of Kansas and has worked for MatchWare since 2005 as a product manager. In his time there he has focused on mind mapping software and how it relates to project management. Don’t forget to pre-register by Sunday, April 7th at 11:59pm on our website for this event!!
After the Chapter meeting our Communities of Practice (CoPs) will meet for you earn an extra PDU. We have three CoPs for you to choose from; Career & Personal Development, Quality, and PMO. Be sure to stick around for one of them to share your expertise with your colleagues.
