Message from the President - February 2017

We are all Fire Roosters!

Happy Year of the Rooster!! Not only is 2017 the Year of the Rooster, but it’s also combined with one of the five elements, which only occurs once every 60 years. This year is a special Fire Rooster Year. When both a zodiac sign and an element are combined, it’s believed to affect one’s personality and destiny. People born in a year of the Rooster are very observant, hardworking, resourceful, courageous, and talented. Roosters are very confident in themselves. Fire Roosters are characterized as trustworthy, with a strong sense of timekeeping and responsibility at work. So why am I telling you these ancient Chinese beliefs? I believe as project managers we all have an inner Fire Rooster. Our success depends on us being observant on our projects, noticing when problems may come our way, and we are absolutely resourceful, courageous, and talented when we see things detouring to get them back on track. Most of all we are trustworthy individuals, always trying to do the right thing for our teams and stakeholders. This all combines into being confident and responsible individuals.

One of our very own virtual Fire Roosters will be speaking this month, Stephanie Unger. Stephanie will be exploring how we can learn lessons from pop culture to appreciate our teams and even gain insight about ourselves. Her presentation will most definitely deepen our ability to be observant not only on our projects, but in our everyday lives as well.

Finally, our Breakfast Roundtable group will be discussing the “Importance of Project Management” and developing your leadership skills later this month on February 28th. This is a virtual meeting so be sure to visit our website on how to attend this session.

See you at the February chapter meeting at the Royal Palace…
