Greetings! I am happy to share the exciting developments in our Chapter.
Not only are we pleased with the progress we have made to restore our Chapter operations and events in a virtual format, but we are also taking a bit of pride in launching two new initiatives.
Last Winter (remember "before"?) we conducted a survey to identify Chapter members interested in volunteering for local non-profit organizations. Through the efforts of member Jonathan Mann, with the assistance of VolunteerNY!, we were able to match nearly a dozen members with volunteer opportunities in Westchester. Thank you, Jonathan, and thank you to those who volunteered.
Also, last Spring we took a poll to gauge interest in a PMIW-sponsored Toastmasters Club. The results were encouraging enough that member Maria De Borba Silva took the initiative to arrange a demonstration meeting which became the key organizing event. This week we received our charter from Toastmasters International and are in the process of collecting and submitting individual club applications. Thank you, Maria, and thanks to member Adam Cole for assistance, and to members who are taking officer roles in our new Club.
I am also excited to report that your Board has come up with a plan to introduce virtual networking at our monthly Chapter meeting on November 10. While we cannot meet in person, we are learning how to replicate an in-person experience as much as possible in a virtual setting. I am interested to hear your feedback after the meeting.
Of course, interaction with other members is a core feature of the Communities of Practice (CoP), as well as at Lunch and Learn (L&L) and the Breakfast Roundtable (BRT). We invite you to join us at these events. Don’t forget to register from our website (pmiwestchester.org) or from invitation e-mails (please note: attendance at L&L's and BR's is restricted to PMIW members only). To receive information on our Toastmasters Club, e-mail Maria at Toastmasters@pmiwestchester.org.
Looking forward to being with you at our November events!
