Planning is Important, but Improvising is Essential! No matter how well you plan, things will go wrong, surprises will arise, and the Universe will throw you a curveball. Your success and sanity are directly related to how you respond to these challenges. The purpose of our discussion is to acknowledge that there is a lot of theatre in Business, especially The Theatre of Improvisation or Improv.
Those of you who may have scoffed at your fellow college roommates who were Theatre Fine Arts majors may now have a bit of jealousy for their ability to think on their feet, pivot when new facts are thrown their way, and communicate quickly – and make sense of it all to an audience (or team) looking on. Only later in life do we, as professionals realize, there IS theatre in Business!
Isaac Rodriguez will review 3 fundamental Principles of Improvisation: Make positive and active choices; It’s the actor’s job to justify and Respect the physical and verbal reality of the scene. Isaac will teach you how to practice these principles of improv on your own and how you can apply them in your role as a project manager immediately.
You always thought your company was shock full of SNAFU situations. Facts, attitudes, and objectives keep changing at the speed of thought. This engaging and energetic program will show you how to stop fearing and hating change and how to use the power of improv to live in reaction, adapt, and innovate - no matter what happens!
Isaac Rodriguez has the rare combination of experiences that allowed him to be a banker, a lending officer, a project manager, and eventually the CEO of a small mutual lending organization in NYC, while also practicing his craft at acting and improvisational theatre. Never thinking these two career paths would be synergistic, it wasn’t until the past 10 years that Isaac realized how important it is to respond quickly to convince boards of directors and shareholders of strategic plans and work with audiences of morally shaken employees on new ideas for continuous improvement. Without his deep love of improv, which requires the utmost in listening and creating, Isaac, by his own admission, may not have had the opportunities in his non-theatrical career.
A native of New York, with a love of music, classic cars, and the performing arts, Isaac brings emotion and passion to his organizations and clients. Using Improv to help companies ideate and solve business and process problems, Isaac breaks down the challenges of communications that are tantamount to when working with groups or audiences. Isaac is the Founder of Double Eagle Process Consulting and has been twice the President of the Society of American Magicians Assembly #1.
Registrants will receive the log-in instructions for the Zoom session on the day of the meeting.
