Message from the President - December 2018

That’s a Wrap!

As I sit here writing this letter, I am reflecting on all the amazing things that happened in the Chapter this past year; a growing and enthusiastic membership, our 15th Anniversary Chapter Celebration, a new Career and Personal Development Community of Practice, Lunch and Learns, working with groups like VolunteerNY! to show what our Chapter can offer within our community, brand new volunteers with exciting ideas, and a bowling social networking event. WOW!! All of these events would not be possible without members like you contributing every single day. You all have my sincerest gratitude and I cannot wait to see what you will do in 2019!

This month is our Annual Membership Appreciation Holiday Event and Chapter Meeting. We have a great speaker lined up at a fabulous location.
First, our very own PMI Westchester Member, Ellen Radack Kahan, is going to talk about how the skill set employed by project managers greatly enhances the outcomes of projects. However, the benefits of owning and utilizing these skills is not restricted to projects, nor just to the workplace. This presentation shows how these skills are transferable – both within the workplace and in our personal lives.
Second, we are going to be at Unique Affair Caterers, located at the Pleasantville Country Club on 110 Nannahagan Rd, Pleasantville NY. This event starts at 5:30 p.m. Please be sure to visit our website before our cut-off for pre-registration on Sunday, December 9th at 11:59 p.m.

After the Chapter meeting our Communities of Practice will meet for you earn an extra PDU. We now have three CoPs for you to choose from; Career & Personal Development, Quality, and PMO. Be sure to stick around for one of them to share your expertise with your colleagues.

Final thought - As I mentioned last month, I want to encourage all of you to get involved in your Chapter. We need a number of volunteers to help your Chapter be even more successful. We are working on implementing PMI's Volunteer Resource Management System (VRMS) to help us identify our members interested in volunteering, but aren't sure how to get involved. In the meantime, do not hesitate to contact me if you are thinking about getting involved now. Are you good at PowerPoint? Are you great at surfing the web and cold calling? Are you awesome at planning networking events? Do you want to run a Lunch and Learn? Do you have amazing organization skills? Something else? Think about it... and let’s talk soon!

I hope you will join me on Tuesday, December 11th at 5:30 p.m... see you at the Chapter meeting!
