There are several things happening this month at PMI Westchester! First, Volunteer New York! will start the month off at our Chapter meeting on April 18th at the Royal Palace. They handle and organize hundreds of thousands of hours of volunteer activities throughout Westchester, Putnam, and Rockland Counties. Our speakers, Caroline and Katherine, will be discussing something called the “Triple Win Effect”; a win for the not-for-profit, a win for you as you earn PDU’s, and another win for you as volunteering makes you feel great!
Next up this month, our Breakfast Roundtable group will be discussing how to “Conduct a Successful Virtual Meeting”. This is a virtual meeting so be sure to visit our website on how to attend this session. Joanne Guerriero will share tips she’s learned along the way running these types of meeting. All participants are encouraged to share their tips and ideas during the discussion.
Our biggest event of the year is also this month, our 8th Annual Symposium (formerly called Professional Development Day), where you can earn up to 8 PDU's in one day. It will be held on April 29th at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. Our speaker line-up includes Jack S. Duggal, MBA, PMP, a sought-after international keynote speaker, change-maker and executive. Jack will discuss how the next generation of project managers doesn’t just manage or lead change, they are “change-makers” - they drive and cause change. You will find out who you are based on three types of project managers, and you will find out if you have what it takes. The Chapter is welcoming back Linda Van Valkenburgh, Owner & Certified Executive Career Coach of My Executive Career Coach, LLC. Last time she visited the Chapter she gave us amazing tips on how to improve our LinkedIn profiles. Now she will show us how to determine many of our skills and strengths; create validation stories; and begin to write our own value proposition. This workshop will help position yourself for career search or to elevate your credentials and industry reputation. Finally, John Sherlock, MBA, MS, PMP is an accomplished and credentialed Project Management Professional with almost 40 years' experience in the energy, financial, telecom and automotive industries. John’s presentation will explore a PM’s life beyond the Gantt chart and into the realm of PM analytics. As a practitioner turned academic, it is most rewarding to see textbook theory become reality.
One final note, we are extending the Early Bird pricing through April 10th, so don’t miss out!!
I hope to see you all month long at these events!!
Brenda Horton, PMP
